About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2+ years License: RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Stepdown experience, telemetry experience Description: The primary patient population includes cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patients. This encompasses open heart surgeries, thoracic lung surgeries, esophagogastrectomy, and abdominal aortic aneurysms. Additional overflow medical cardiology patients with diagnoses such as heart failure, diabetic ketoacidosis, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block may also be cared for. The unit consists of 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds and has approximately 100 staff members. Day shift typically includes 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, and 4 PCTs, whereas night shift has similar staffing. The patient-to-nurse ratio is approximately 1:5, with a ratio of 1:13 for PCTs. Commonly used equipment includes IV pumps, epidural pumps, and various lifting devices. Experience in managing epidurals, chest tubes, tube feedings, and cardiac medication drips is essential. The ideal candidate is a team player, enjoys a fast-paced environment, and is flexible with scheduling. Weekend requirements include a minimum of 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule period. There is no call requirement and flexibility to work holidays is expected.
