JOB SUMMARY:

The Electrical Engineer II designs electrical control systems and panel layouts for standard equipment and moderate-complexity systems. This role independently manages the electrical scope of small projects — sizing enclosures, protection, drives and distribution, and producing complete schematic packages.

Work is assigned as defined packages with expected outcomes and is reviewed at milestones. The role collaborates with mechanical and controls on integration, works with vendors on quotes and specifications, and supports field installation and testing.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design electrical systems and panel layouts of moderate complexity in AutoCAD Electrical
• Size enclosures, disconnects, fuses, breakers, starters and VFDs
• Create schematics, one-line cable diagrams and backplane layouts
• Generate and maintain the electrical BOM; export for purchasing
• Apply NFPA 79 and UL 508A to panel design
• Collaborate with mechanical and controls on integration
• Work with vendors to obtain quotes and specifications
• Conduct field tests and installation support
• Participate in safety and compliance review
• Answer task-level questions from Electrical Engineer I and review their drawings when asked
• Complete one component-guide stub after the project that used it
• Travel between Adaptec engineering sites in Rochester, NY and Painted Post, NY (approximately 90 miles) to support builds, as required.

Requirements:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline or equivalent experience, required.
• 1–4 years in electrical design for automated equipment
• Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical
• Experience sizing panel components and producing complete schematic packages
• Participation in safety and compliance review
• Vendor coordination for quotes and specifications

• Independent execution and task planning within a defined work package
• Communicates designs to cross-functional teams; prepares detailed drawing packages
• Structured problem solving; troubleshoots complex electrical issues independently
• Proposes improvements to hardware designs

MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS:

• Electrical scope of assigned projects delivered independently to plan
• Schematic packages complete and accurate at release; redlines minimal
• BOM accurate against the drawings and the ACADE catalog
• NFPA 79 and UL 508A applied without prompting
• Department naming conventions and preferred parts followed
• One component-guide stub completed after the project that used it

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the wage range for this role is $90K - $103K. The rate range provided is a general guideline.
