Nuclear Medicine TechnologistEnvision Imaging seeks a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at our North Arlington, TX location PRN (As-Needed) | Position Pay Range: $41.97 - $54.11Summary/Objective:The Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares and administers radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic and tracer studies using a variety of radioisotope equipment. Detects and maps radiopharmaceuticals in patients' body using a camera to produce photographic or computer images. Calculates doses to be administered.Essential Functions:1. Interfaces with patient to ascertain medical history and provides instructions and explanation of the procedure and/or exam to obtain the best possible image.2. Reviews patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent. Screens patients for surgical and other implants, contrast allergies, etc.3. Performs nuclear medicine and/or PET scans while attending to patient's care before, during and following exam and notifies the appropriate party if patient's condition changes at any time.4. Maintains record of receipt and disposal of radioactive materials. Manages radioactive disposables for proper decay and disposal.5. Performs injections of radioisotope and orders radioisotopes for next day's exams.6. Transfers images to other locations as needed.7. Coordinates scan protocols with Radiologist.8. Maintains and regularly inspects equipment and immediately reports any quality concerns as well as equipment failures or deficiencies.9. Interfaces with Lead Technologist & Area Manager regarding any and all departmental concerns.10. Other duties as assigned.Competencies:1. Technical Capacity.2. Ethical Conduct.3. Thoroughness.4. Potential exposure to radiation, which is minimized by the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Possible exposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation and other conditions common to a medical office environment. Often requires work in cool, dimly lighted rooms.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by and employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
