Job Summary

The Molding Process Technician is responsible for setting up, installing, and optimizing injection molding processes to ensure efficient production, high-quality output, and adherence to safety standards. This role involves troubleshooting, process adjustments, and supporting continuous improvement in molding operations.

Essential Functions:

• Set up and process injection molding machines according to production schedules and specifications.
• Install and remove injection molds, ensuring proper alignment, clamping, and all necessary connections (water, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical).
• Perform machine start-up and shutdown procedures related to mold changes and production runs.
• Establish and adjust processing parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle time, etc.) to achieve optimal part quality and efficiency.
• Inspect molds prior to installation for damage, wear, or maintenance needs.
• Troubleshoot molding process issues, including defects, machine malfunctions, and startup challenges.
• Work closely with Operators, Maintenance, and Quality teams to resolve production issues and improve performance.
• Maintain accurate documentation of process settings, mold changes, and production data.
• Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
• Assist with preventative maintenance and basic repair of molds and molding equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Maintains consistent, reliable, and predictable attendance. Because of the highly specialized nature of this role and its direct impact on plant-wide operations, physical presence and punctuality are essential to ensure uninterrupted production, safety, and workflow for all plant personnel.

Additional Responsibilities

• Attend assigned meetings, training sessions, and safety workshops.
• Assist with production troubleshooting and continuous process improvements.
• Communicate with supervisors to obtain necessary materials and supplies.
• Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication when working with team members and leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support team objectives and operational goals.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in mold setting or related role in plastics manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with injection molding machines and mold change procedures.
• Strong mechanical skills and ability to use basic hand tools and lifting equipment (joists, cranes).
• Ability to read blueprints and setup sheets is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods of time.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience (or willingness to train and obtain certification).
