Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist for a position that requires commitment to 36 hours a week, comprised of three 12-hour shifts. The schedule includes every other weekend and a rotating holiday coverage. Shifts will start at 1800 and conclude at 0630.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct routine therapies to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patients' cardiopulmonary status.
• Perform and document emergency rounds and oxygen saturation checks, titrating oxygen per protocol during oxygen and aerosol rounds.
• Initiate, monitor, evaluate, and wean patients from both invasive and non-invasive ventilation, making recommendations based on thorough clinical assessments.
• Adhere strictly to universal precautions and employ proper body mechanics during all procedures.
• Evaluate treatment regimens, including medication delivery and oxygen administration, through therapist-driven protocols and patient assessments.
• Assess patients clinically before and after the administration of any medication or procedure; suggest appropriate therapy modifications as necessary.
• Monitor and document patients' responses to therapies and educate patients and their families about treatment goals and equipment used.
• Demonstrate competence in setting up, calibrating, and troubleshooting mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation devices.
• Respond to emergency situations within the facility and assist with resuscitation efforts in accordance with established guidelines.
• Transport patients on mechanical ventilation and critically ill individuals to various intrahospital procedures and testing.
• Provide age-appropriate care to diverse patient populations, responding to each patient's physical, psycho-social, and cultural needs.
• Engage in community education events, sharing knowledge regarding procedures, disease processes, medications, and respiratory treatments.
• Continuously seek to enhance professional skills through self-development activities, in-services, and relevant continuing education.

Requirements

• Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program - education verification required.
• Wisconsin Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from The National Board for Respiratory Care.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Provider Level BLS certification.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.

Shift Information

This position requires night shifts consisting of three 12-hour shifts from 1800 to 0630, with every other weekend rotation and holiday coverage required.

Experience

Minimum years of experience: Less than 1 year.
