Learn more at About Food & Beverage The Food & Beverage team ensures a consistent guest experience by keeping products fresh, in stock, priced accurately, and properly signed on the sales floor. The team leads replenishment, inventory accuracy, food safety, presentation, and promotional signing processes. Role Overview The Food & Beverage Team Leader creates an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience, manages food safety, inventory, staffing, and daily operations, and ensures compliance with all standards and policies. Key Responsibilities Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience. Ensure every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers on Target’s guest experience commitments and consistent operations. Actively observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments. Review area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve, and align the team on the right behaviors and execution. Understand sales goals, plan, and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement, including merchandising, pricing, and promotional activities. Lead a guest‑focused, efficient Food & Beverage team that strives to deliver the Food & Beverage standards by completing the Food & Beverage Daily Standards walk. Assess backroom and sales floor areas on a daily basis by walking the Target Food & Beverage Standards, prioritize business needs, and identify workload tasks for the team. Establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable to those expectations. Act as a partner to the store leadership team through communication and collaboration to influence current sales performance and workload deliverables. Maintain a fresh, full, and food‑safe area during all operating hours, leveraging strong inventory management and Food Safety policies and procedures. Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns. Validate and follow up on team members’ progress against assigned prioritized workload tasks, production area routines, and application of best practices. Lead and demonstrate a culture of executing all best practices; help close skill gaps through development, coaching, training, and team interactions. Lead team huddles to communicate focuses and trends, leveraging store reporting and HQ communications. Develop and maintain partnerships with vendors to ensure clear expectations and brand standards are met and areas are reliably in‑stock. Remain up‑to‑date on relevant trends and products to educate team members. Support leadership in the hiring and onboarding process of new team members; participate in team hiring and onboarding processes. Support guest services such as back‑up cashier, order pick‑up (OPU), Drive‑up (DU) while maintaining a compliance culture and adhering to federal, state, and local laws. Protect the store’s liquor license by becoming a subject matter expert in federal, state, and local adult beverage laws (if applicable). Lead the team to uphold and maintain all Starbucks and Pizza Hut Brand Standards when applicable, fostering productive partnerships with district managers. Complete the Food Safety Manager Certification and all required Starbucks and/or Pizza Hut training or certifications (if applicable). Model a safety culture through identifying hazards, holding team accountable, and assisting with incident response. Support merchandise protection strategies, including ordering, storage, and application of best practices. Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences. Occasionally assume store‑level leadership on‑duty responsibilities to enable the guest experience during assigned shifts. Address all store emergency and compliance requirements. Perform all other duties based on business needs. Qualifications Minimum 18 years old or older. High school diploma or equivalent. Previous retail and/or food experience preferred, but not required. Strong interest and knowledge of the Food & Beverage business. Lead and hold others accountable. Communicate on multiple devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed. Work independently and as part of a team. Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently. Remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment to accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes. Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members. Effective communication skills. Other Duties & Expectations Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues. Interpret instructions, reports, and information. Accurately handle cash register operations as needed. Climb up and down ladders if needed. Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting up to 44 pounds without assistance. Maintain a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; reliable and prompt attendance necessary. Work in environments that include refrigeration, freezer temperatures, and conditions where allergens may be present. Operate in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing duties such as drive‑ups or carry‑out. Remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).
