Director of Finance & Accounting

Our client is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Director of Finance & Accounting to lead the accounting and finance function within a growing organization in the Tampa area. This individual will play a key role in financial operations, strategic planning, executive reporting, and business decision support. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with leadership capabilities and a desire to help scale a growing business.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the accounting and finance function, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and operational excellence.
Own the monthly close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
Prepare and analyze financial statements and provide reporting to executive leadership.
Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning activities.
Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable business insights to support decision-making.
Partner with operational leaders to improve processes, drive profitability, and support organizational growth.
Manage working capital and support cash flow forecasting and planning.
Oversee regulatory, tax, and compliance-related financial activities.
Support strategic initiatives including financing activities, acquisitions, integrations, and special projects.
Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes, systems, and reporting capabilities.
Build, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
Proven leadership experience overseeing accounting operations and financial planning functions.
Strong understanding of financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
Experience managing financial statements, cash flow analysis, and executive reporting.
Ability to operate effectively in a hands-on leadership role within a growing organization.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to partner with business leaders and influence decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications:

CPA certification preferred.
Public accounting experience preferred.
Experience working within privately held, high-growth, or entrepreneurial organizations.
Background supporting multi-entity operations.
Experience with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and process improvement initiatives.
Exposure to board reporting, strategic planning, and acquisition-related activities.
