About the Position

Job Title: Oncology Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year required License: Active Illinois license required Certifications: BLS, Chemo certification preferred Must-Have: - Chemotherapy administration experience - IV therapy/infusion skills Description: This position is for an experienced Oncology Nurse. The nurse will work a three 12-hour shift schedule. The average daily census in the unit is 24 patients. The nurse will be responsible for the administration of chemotherapy and monitoring patients. Responsibilities also include managing and disposing of cytotoxic spills. The position requires familiarity with various chemotherapy administration methods. Nurses will provide care for both oncology and hospice patients. They will also recognize and communicate abnormal lab values. Experience in accessing and managing ports is essential. Nurses will administer blood and blood products as part of patient care. Weekend work is required, with every other weekend scheduled. The facility supports interdisciplinary teams including social services and pharmacy. Candidates must be willing to float as necessary within the hospital. No call requirements are associated with this role. The position is open to first-time travelers. Candidates must have the ability to work two of the three major holidays. Successful candidates will complete compliance and training upon hire.
