Principal, Quality Engineering Location: Chicago, IL, USA Join a payments, messaging, and liquidity testing team to lead the design, implementation, and evolution of test automation strategies that leverage AI and advanced technologies. Responsibilities Lead technical thinking, consultation, and mentorship for test automation initiatives. Drive advanced product quality through testing innovations and continuous process improvement. Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and developers to design testable applications. Create and execute technical roadmaps, plans, and program-wide test strategies. Design and manage proof‑of‑concepts, feasibility studies, and technical validations. Resolve technical issues, anticipate risks, and ensure timely escalation of critical matters. Apply analytical skills to determine root causes of defects and operational issues. Analyze, optimize, and maintain current test automation suites at the enterprise level. Mentor junior SE/SDETs to enhance technical proficiency and effectiveness. Support automated CI/CT/CD pipeline implementation and expansion. Develop and extend test automation frameworks for UI, micro‑services, and API. Guarantee compliance with automation frameworks, standards, and best practices. Facilitate automated, on‑demand test metrics reporting. Ensure early, frequent automated test execution to provide rapid feedback. Gather stakeholder feedback through test automation demonstrations. Accelerate test development by leveraging existing assets, standards, and best practices, while adding new functions and methods to the libraries. Qualifications BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent. 14‑18 years of overall experience, including at least 8 years in quality engineering. 5‑8 years of experience leading test automation. 5‑8 years of experience managing a team of employees or contractors. Deep knowledge of multi‑tiered, complex system design and architecture. Proven expertise in SDLC, Agile development practices, and test lifecycle management. Strong experience with Java, Selenium/LeanFT, BDD frameworks (Cucumber/JBehave), TestNG, and IDEs (Eclipse/IntelliJ). Hands‑on experience with DevOps/CICD tools (Bamboo, Jenkins, Concourse, Maven, Git, BitBucket). Expertise in QA processes, techniques, and methodologies. Ability to forecast, estimate, and analyze ROI. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Attention to detail with the capacity to see the broader picture and recommend strategic solutions. Self‑starter who thrives in a dynamic environment and can work independently or as part of a team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with technical and business partners. Preferred / Recommended Skills Experience in global, cross‑functional leadership. Familiarity with banking or financial domains. Experience leading large programs.
