Union Volunteer Emergency Squad Observer Program

Have you ever wondered what happens in an ambulance? Ride with us and find out. The general public and members of other emergency service organizations are more than welcome to come and spend some time with the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad.

We make it easy for you to get started. You need to do two things:

• Fill out your application online.
• Complete an in-person 30-minute interview/safety orientation.

Once applications are approved and orientation completed, you can ride with us for up to 36 hours or 3 shifts to see what it's all about.

This approved application allows persons to ride in an ambulance performing EMS calls. Acting as an observer to become familiar with EMS operations. Observers agree to abide by the Squad Rules and Regulations and conduct themselves professionally and lawfully. They understand that business and patient information must be held in the strictest confidence, and divulging such information outside of the organization could be grounds for legal action.

The observer understands UVES has the following dress code that must be strictly adhered to. No blue jeans. No sneakers. Pants of a dark color, preferably black or blue. Plain white collared shirt with no emblems, insignias, designs, or pictures. Shoes should be comfortable, and dark in color. A UVES jacket or sweater and ANSI safety will be provided to all persons while observing.
