Intellectual Property Associate (2–4 Years) – Multiple Locations
Direct Counsel is representing an AmLaw 100 firm seeking a highly motivated Intellectual Property Associate to join its nationally recognized IP practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge patent prosecution and IP litigation matters alongside experienced attorneys.
Locations: Boston, Denver, New York, San Francisco, Palo Alto, or Washington, DC
Key ResponsibilitiesPatent Prosecution:
Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO
Develop and manage strategic IP portfolios
Mentor and support junior associates
IP Litigation & Disputes:
Conduct pre-litigation diligence
Draft pleadings and perform legal research
Prepare expert witnesses
Experience with inter partes reviews (IPR) and post-grant proceedings preferred
Deposition experience is a plus
J.D. from an accredited law school
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering (advanced degree or industry experience preferred)
2–4 years of experience in both patent prosecution and IP litigation
Admission before the USPTO
Licensed and in good standing in the applicable jurisdiction (MA, NY, CA, or DC)
Strong written, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
