Speech and Language Pathologist

Provide strong consultation and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams regarding speech and language, communication and academic learning; conduct speech and language evaluations. Provide direct speech and language services to students in individual and group settings.

Essential duties and responsibilities include conducting comprehensive student evaluations, maintaining case records, designing and implementing individualized educational program services, conferring with teachers, parents, and outside services providers, attending relevant meetings, serving as a consultant on communication related topics, interpreting evaluations and services, preparing and submitting required reports, managing cases, collaborating with community agencies, fulfilling supervisory responsibilities, maintaining professional competence, and serving on faculty and curriculum committees.

Qualification requirements include a valid Connecticut Teaching Certificate (061), ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, ability to write reports and correspondence, ability to present information to administrators, staff, parents, and the public, ability to perform mathematical calculations, basic knowledge of hardware and software applications, ability to solve practical problems, ability to apply current research and teaching competencies, ability to plan and implement lessons, ability to establish effective relationships, skill in oral and written communication, and awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Physical demands include standing, talking or hearing, walking, sitting, pushing or lifting up to fifty pounds, and close vision abilities. The work environment is indoors and occasionally outdoors, with moderate to loud noise levels.
