Maintenance Lead / Electrical Supervisor
The Maintenance Lead / Electrical Supervisor oversees day-to-day maintenance activities in a manufacturing, fabrication, and machine shop environment in Seattle. This hands-on role combines industrial electrical troubleshooting, mechanical maintenance, and team leadership to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of facility equipment, electrical systems, and process instrumentation. The position supports production operations, leads a small maintenance team, and works directly on a wide variety of industrial and commercial building systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the day-to-day maintenance activities in a fabrication and machine shop environment, ensuring equipment reliability and minimal downtime.
- Provide clear direction, guidance, and technical support to a small maintenance team while working alongside them in a hands-on capacity.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems, controls, instrumentation, and related equipment throughout the facility.
- Diagnose and repair small electrical devices, motors, push-button controls, and related components to restore safe and efficient operation.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on machine shop equipment, including lathes, welding equipment, drill presses, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
- Support commercial building maintenance activities and coordinate outside contractors when specialized services or additional resources are required.
- Operate and maintain boiler systems to ensure safe and compliant operation in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Build and wire control panels and motor control centers from drawings and specifications, ensuring proper layout, connections, and functionality.
- Install conduit, pull wire, and support new equipment installations, following electrical codes and best practices.
- Test, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair process instrumentation and electrical equipment to maintain accurate and reliable system performance.
- Occasionally travel to customer sites to assist with equipment startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, P&IDs, and technical drawings to plan and execute maintenance and installation work.
- Apply knowledge of conduit installation, wire sizing, circuit protection, and National Electrical Code requirements to all electrical work.
- Collaborate with production and operations personnel to prioritize maintenance tasks and support continuous improvement in equipment performance.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications to equipment and systems.
Essential Skills
- At least 4 years of journey-level industrial electrical experience.
- Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial controls, electrical systems, and instrumentation.
- Background working in a manufacturing, fabrication, machine shop, or industrial production environment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, P&IDs, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of conduit installation, wire sizing, circuit protection, and National Electrical Code requirements.
- Experience with panel building, wiring, and motor control systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience maintaining industrial equipment such as lathes, welding equipment, drill presses, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
- Ability to diagnose and repair small electrical devices, motors, and push-button controls.
- Experience operating and maintaining boiler systems or willingness to learn.
- Previous lead or supervisory experience is preferred, with the ability to provide direction and guidance to a small maintenance team.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, and repair work.
- Ability to support commercial building maintenance and coordinate with outside contractors as needed.
- Capability and willingness to occasionally travel to customer sites for equipment startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- State electrician's license preferred.
- UL508 Certification or the ability to obtain this certification.
- City of Seattle Boiler Fireman Grade IV operator's license/certification or the ability to obtain this license/certification in short order.
- A Tacoma boiler license may be transferable to Seattle at the discretion of the City of Seattle.
- Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification.
- Willingness to obtain, transfer, or renew certifications with support provided.
- Demonstrated ability to build and wire control panels and motor control centers from drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with process instrumentation testing, calibration, and repair.
- Comfort working in a small team environment where responsibilities span electrical, mechanical, facilities, and leadership tasks.

Work Environment
This position is based in a full-time, on-site role within a manufacturing, fabrication, and machine shop facility in Seattle. The environment includes machine shop equipment such as lathes, welding equipment, drill presses, forklifts, and overhead cranes, as well as commercial building systems and boiler operations. Work involves hands-on maintenance of electrical systems, control panels, motor control centers, conduit installations, and process instrumentation. The role includes occasional travel to customer sites for equipment startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning. You will work closely with a small maintenance team and production staff in a setting that values safety, technical excellence, and teamwork. Appropriate industrial attire and adherence to safety procedures and protective equipment requirements are expected in this shop and industrial environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $47.00 - $53.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
