Physician Assistant

Position Summary Under the general supervision of a physician, the Physician Assistant is responsible for providing varied medical services, including obtaining complete medical history, performing a physical examination; ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and imaging studies; formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan; prescribing and/or dispensing medication; assisting in surgery or other invasive procedures; rounding on admitted patients; counseling patients and families; and other patient care duties. The PA may be involved in a patient’s medical care in any role deemed proper and consistent with applicable law, hospital regulations, delineation of privileges, and the PA’s training, knowledge, skill, and experience. Position: Physician Assistant Department: Cardiology Schedule: Full Time Essential Responsibilities / Duties Responsibilities include management and peri‑procedural care of outpatient cardiac catheterization patients and serving as Valve Program Coordinator. This role coordinates the Cardiac Valve Clinic (in concert with CT surgery), navigates patients through valve/structural heart workups, and performs administrative duties involving the structural heart registry and follow‑up. Under general supervision of a cardiologist, the PA will also provide the medical services described in the Position Summary. Job Requirements Education Qualified Physician Assistants will hold at least a Bachelor’s degree and must be a graduate of a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC‑PA) or its predecessor. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required Upon hire, the PA must be National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA) PANCE eligible and eligible for PA licensure in the State of Massachusetts. Documentation of a Massachusetts PA license and initial NCCPA certification are required. If prescribing medications is part of the duties, Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration are required. Experience Prior experience in a similar clinical setting/specialty is preferred. Knowledge and Skills Self‑directed, initiative‑driven professionals who can exercise expert clinical judgment independently. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English to convey complex medical information to patients, families, physicians, staff, and community health workers. Problem‑solving and conflict resolution skills are preferred, and interest in caring for diverse populations with varying health literacy is encouraged. Compensation Range $112,000.00 – $162,500.00 (based on minimum job qualifications; additional factors such as education, experience, skills, certifications, and internal equity may influence the final offer). This range is based on Boston‑area data and may be adjusted for geographic location.
