AV Field Service Technician

What You'll Learn & Contribute As an AV Field Service Technician, you'll work alongside experienced engineers and technicians while developing the skills needed to deliver professional AV and LED installations nationwide. From day one, you'll gain hands‑on experience with industry-leading technology, manufacturer best practices, and engineering-driven field execution. As you grow in the role, you'll learn to: Install and assemble direct-view LED (dvLED) systems, professional displays, audiovisual equipment, and supporting infrastructure. Assist with system commissioning, startup, configuration, calibration, and acceptance testing. Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, power, and signal path issues under the guidance of senior technicians. Replace field-service components such as pixel cards, receiving cards, power supplies, modules, and hub boards. Configure LED processors, video controllers, and other professional AV equipment. Perform preventive maintenance, system health checks, diagnostics, and emergency service activities. Read and interpret engineering drawings, installation documents, and manufacturer procedures. Participate in site surveys, field verification, and pre-installation assessments. Support equipment staging, rack integration, cable management, logistics, and warehouse preparation. Complete commissioning reports, service documentation, punch lists, and project closeout records. Coordinate professionally with customers, manufacturers, subcontractors, and internal project teams. Deliver excellent customer service while representing WaveTech onsite. Follow OSHA requirements, customer safety policies, and WaveTech quality standards. Travel throughout the United States to support installations, commissioning, and field service projects. Develop the leadership and technical skills needed to take on greater project responsibilities over time. The Professional We're Looking For We're looking for motivated individuals who enjoy working with technology, solving problems, and learning new skills. Previous professional AV or dvLED experience is a plus—but it's not required. What matters most is your attitude, work ethic, and willingness to grow. Successful candidates will have: A strong interest in professional AV, LED display technology, electronics, or related technical fields. A desire to build hands‑on technical skills through real‑world field experience. Basic mechanical aptitude and confidence using hand and power tools. Strong problem‑solving abilities and a willingness to learn from experienced technicians. Strong computer skills and confidence using Windows‑based computers, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, cloud storage platforms, and other digital collaboration tools. The ability to learn and work with manufacturer software, commissioning tools, networking utilities, and other technical applications used in professional AV and dvLED deployments. Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce technical documentation, service reports, commissioning reports, photo documentation, and other project records using digital tools. Good communication skills and a professional attitude when working with customers and teammates. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Willingness to travel nationwide and work flexible schedules when projects require it. A commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement. Preferred, but not required: Technical diploma, trade school, or college education in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Information Technology, Audiovisual Technology, or a related field. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. AVIXA CTS, manufacturer certifications, or other relevant technical credentials. Any previous experience with low‑voltage systems, networking, construction, electrical work, or audiovisual installations. Compensation Annual Salary: $55,000–$65,000 , based on experience, technical background, certifications, and demonstrated skills.
