TactStaff Education is seeking a certified Elementary Special Education Teacher for a full-time, onsite Life Skills classroom serving K–4 students. This is a short-term contract through December 18, 2026, offering an opportunity to support students with a range of learning and behavioral needs in a structured special education setting.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with students who may demonstrate significant behaviors and have strong experience with IEP development, ARD meetings, data collection, and progress monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction to students in a K–4 Life Skills classroom
- Develop and implement individualized instruction aligned with student IEPs
- Develop, update, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Plan differentiated lessons based on individual student needs and abilities
- Lead and participate in ARD meetings
- Collect, analyze, and track student academic and behavioral data
- Monitor progress toward IEP goals and maintain accurate documentation
- Implement classroom and individual behavior support strategies
- Provide a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families
- Support students with academic, functional, communication, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
- Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal special education requirements
Qualifications
- Valid Texas Special Education teaching certification required
- Must meet all applicable Texas Education Agency requirements for the position
- Experience working in a Life Skills or self-contained special education classroom preferred
- Experience supporting students with significant behavioral needs strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, ARD processes, data collection, and progress monitoring
- Strong classroom management and behavior-support skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff and families
- Commitment to individualized instruction and student success
