If you want to make a difference, then Selene is the place for you!The Loss Mitigation Underwriter is a key contributor in the loan resolution process, responsible for evaluating complex borrower workout options—including repayment plans, loan modifications, short sales, and deeds-in-lieu. This role ensures compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines while serving as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior underwriters. The Senior Underwriter plays a critical role in driving performance, maintaining quality standards, and supporting strategic initiatives within the department.Key Responsibilities:Evaluate loans for eligibility under various loss mitigation options based on investor, regulatory, and internal guidelines.Review and analyze borrower loss mitigation packages, identify deficiencies, and issue appropriate notices.Prepare and issue approval and adverse action notices in compliance with applicable laws and investor requirements.Ensure adherence to Fair Lending practices and regulatory standards throughout the underwriting process.Collaborate with internal teams, including Mortgage Specialists, to gather documentation and resolve issues efficiently.Stay informed on evolving industry programs and investor requirements, including HAMP, GSE, and insurer guidelines.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in internal systems, including investor approval workflows.Perform escrow analyses and pro forma calculations for loan modifications.Monitor underwriting metrics and contribute to achieving monthly workout-to-portfolio ratio goals.Provide training, mentorship, and technical guidance to junior underwriters.Support management in identifying process improvements and implementing best practices.Note: This is an in-office position and is not eligible for remote work.Qualifications:Strong knowledge of loan workout options, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirementsAdvanced analytical and decision-making skills with a high level of accuracyProven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilitiesProficiency in loan servicing systems and Microsoft Office SuiteHigh school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferredMinimum of 3–5 years of underwriting or loss mitigation experience requiredPrior experience in a senior, lead, or mentoring role strongly preferredBenefits Selene Finance LP is committed to the total wellbeing of its employees and therefore offers one of the best benefits packages available in the industry today, which includes:Paid Time Off (PTO)Medical, Dental & VisionEmployee Assistance ProgramFlexible Spending AccountHealth Savings AccountPaid HolidaysCompany paid Life InsuranceMatching 401(k) Plan
