Medical Assistant

Medical AssistantProvides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. This position works directly with a franchised business location. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises. All Medical Assistants are required to be cross trained for Front Office duties.ResponsibilitiesCheck patients in for their visits, running insurance, and collecting copaysSchedule appointments or answer necessary questions during phone callsObtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical examEnsure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely mannerAdminister prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedureDraw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processingAdminister medications and vaccines via inter-muscular injectionsPerform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructionsPerform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulationsMaintain complete and accurate documentationPrepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for proceduresOther duties and responsibilities as assignedQualificationsTwo-year college or technical school for Medical Assistant; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
