Bus Aide

Bus AideA staff member responsible for all duties associated with managing students in a safe manner. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to perform all duties of the job. Must maintain First Aid/CPR certificate. Transportation management has the right to hire bus aides through an interview process and upon Board approval. Reports to: Transportation Director.Job Goals: To assist with managing students in a safe manner.Professional/Ethical Responsibilities: It is imperative that the person employed in this position display, at all times, acceptable professional and ethical standards. These expectations are as follows, but are not limited to: Confidentiality, Courtesy, Cooperation and positive attitude, Reliability/punctuality, Timeliness in respect to deadlines, Honesty, Respectfulness toward others.Responsibilities and Duties: Assist driver with student discipline on the bus and follow established student discipline procedures. Must be firm, friendly and fair. Assist with evacuation drills as directed. Follow policies, procedures and rules governing all areas of transportation department. Attend all in-service training. Shall be neatly dressed and shall adhere to district dress code. Use protective gear as necessary such as gloves and masks. Perform other duties related to transporting students as appointed by driver. This includes but is not limited to: buckling, strapping and securing students, making arrangements with parents as necessary and jointly with the driver, taking students into buildings or the home as applicable. Operate two-way radio using proper language and procedures. Will work toward a team-building concept and solve problems together. Employees will establish and maintain a high level of public relations by projecting a cheerful, helpful and courteous attitude at all times. Employee is required to attend regular staff and training meetings. Mandatory meetings must be attended by all staff unless written notice is given in advance with valid reason. Must follow policies, procedures and rules governing all areas of the transportation department.Terms of Employment: Part-time employment. Substitute assignment on a needed basis only. Salary and benefits as per Board policy.
