Your focus will span the full product lifecycle, combining generative, evaluative, and quantitative research to build a holistic picture of our customers. You'll be part of our UX Research team, where we help onX build a deep, ongoing understanding of our customers, so product decisions are grounded in how people actually explore the outdoors with onX, helping our teams build with confidence. This role will serve as the link between what we learn from onX customers and how product and business teams act on it. This role will report to the UX Research Manager.WHAT YOU'LL DOEssential Job Duties & FunctionsOwn end-to-end researchIndependently plan and run research, both qualitative and quantitative, across the full product lifecycle to shape strategy and sharpen the onX customer experience.Know which method fits which question, and bring sound judgment to every call you make: balancing speed with rigor, weighing tradeoffs honestly, and making decisions that keep your conclusions credible and your team confident in them.Build cross-functional partnerships and influence to scale impactBuild deep knowledge of our customers and products so you can spot the right questions before anyone asks, challenge assumptions, and help shape product strategy and priorities.Build close, trusted relationships with Product, Design, and other partners from day one — understanding their goals and context well enough to spot research opportunities together and scope studies collaboratively, not just deliver findings at the end.Turn research into clear next steps — tell a compelling story with your findings and partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Business Intelligence, and Marketing to inform decisions.Act as a go-to advisor when partners are running their own research by weighing in on study design and methodology to help strengthen their approach.Coach non-researchers, contribute to shared research standards and practices, and look for ways AI can make our research faster, sharper, and easier to reuse.Execute across mixed methodsUse qualitative methods like interviews, usability testing, diary studies, and other generative and evaluative approaches.Design and execute quantitative studies, using descriptive and inferential statistics to turn survey, behavioral, and CX data into clarity we can act on. You'll also help shape how we measure UX more broadly, so teams understand how well our products serve customers at scale.Know when one approach fits better than the other, and when combining them gets you further — for example, working through a multi-phase study where each builds on the other to answer a bigger question.Continuously integrate qualitative, quantitative, and behavioral data to spot patterns, make sense of conflicting signals, and build a fuller picture of onX customers and how their needs and experiences change over time.WHAT YOU’LL BRINGA portfolio, work samples, or case studies is required as part of the application. It should demonstrate your ability to independently scope and execute mixed-method research and translate evidence into meaningful product and business impact.Eight (8) years of relevant experience, that includes at least five (5) years in UX, product, or consumer research, preferably in a fast-paced B2C product environmentA Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or PhD in Psychology, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Anthropology, or related field or equivalent experience.A proactive, strategic mindset. You understand customers, the product, and the business well enough to know what's worth researching.Strong communication and collaboration. You explain findings, implications, and limitations clearly to any audience, and build real partnerships with Product, Design, and other cross-functional partners along the way.Proven mixed-methods research fluency, with the ability to independently design, execute, analyze, and integrate qualitative and quantitative studies to answer strategic questions.Experience across foundational and evaluative qualitative methods, including interviews, usability testing, diary studies, and other generative and evaluative approaches.Hands-on quantitative research experience, including survey design and analysis, sampling strategies, data-quality assessment, and applying descriptive and inferential statistics.Experience with UX measurement and Voice of Customer (VoC) practices, and interest in helping that work evolve and scale.Ability to juggle multiple research efforts at once, and adjust as questions, timelines, or business needs shift.A strong curiosity for exploring new technologies, including AI.A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values.Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX.Ability to travel quarterly for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location, such as a Basecamp. For this position, applicants can expect to make between $154,000 and $180,000 upon hire. The pay range will vary based upon experience, skills, certifications, education among other factors as required in the job description.
