Unit Secretary

Seeking Full Time staff

BLUESTONE: Bluestone Child & Adolescent Hospital is seeking dynamic healthcare professionals interested in bringing psychiatric care to a new level for children ages 6-17. Working in a brand new, 12 bed state-of-the-art facility, Bluestone staff will have a unique ability to direct patient care, employ best practices, and join a care network that promotes the best long-term outcomes for patients.

POSITION SUMMARY : The Unit Secretary organizes clerical functions of the nursing unit, including communication, record keeping, logs, and patient information. In addition, the Unit Secretary notifies the nursing staff and/or charge nurse in a timely manner of pertinent patient information, including physician orders, laboratory or test results, and other pertinent communication.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Maintain patients’ written medical record/chart as per policy and procedure.
• Upload written documentation into patients’ electronic record.
• Answer the telephone, deliver messages, sort unopened mail and place in designated boxes.
• Facilitate patient calls to phone contacts when indicated.
• Greet, sign-in, and wand visitors when indicated.
• Inventory and order hospital supplies when indicated.
• Monitor and maintain paper forms.
• Complete photocopying and faxing as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education : A minimum of a degree or certificate in medical secretary training or an Associate’s Degree required.
• Licensure : None.
• Skills :
• Possess effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.
• Demonstrate basic computer knowledge for the implementation of patient/client information electronic record keeping.
• Demonstrate attention to detail. Experience: A minimum of 1 year clerical experience in a medical setting required.
