Surgical Tech Extern- Labor & Delivery

Job Summary Provide technical services under supervision of Registered Nurse and Physician. Assist in operating room as assigned and directed. May work in Central Sterile Processing and work under job duties of Central Sterile Processing Technician. Qualifications Vocational / Technical Degree in Accredited Surgical Technology Program (Required) 0 - 1 year Surgical Technology Experience (Preferred) Certified Surgical Technologists (CST) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Responsibilities Prepare and assist with surgical procedures in collaboration with Registered Nurse. Pull cases according to doctor preference cards. Maintain and prepare sterile field. Maintain knowledge of surgical procedures. Anticipate needs of surgeon. Assist surgeon by passing instruments, sutures, etc. Develop individualized care plans and implement them safely and timely. Document implementation, changes, or omissions of the plan. Consult with healthcare providers and make referrals as appropriate. Utilize community resources and systems to implement the plan. Treat patients and families with compassion. Base care decisions on plan of care. Monitor and document patient response. Establish rapport with clients. Adapt communication style and respond to patient needs. Recognize age‑specific responses to treatment. Provide effective interventions. Respect patient confidentiality and privacy. Support social, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients and families. Manage difficult or emotional patient situations. Additional Duties Adhere to hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines. Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with core values, mission and vision of the organization. Perform other duties as required and complete all job functions per departmental policies and procedures. Maintain current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self‑education, attend ongoing educational programs). Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory in‑services and competency evaluations on time.Demonstrate competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
