We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting ophthalmologists in providing exceptional patient care. This position involves performing various clinical tasks, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive eye examinations, and supporting the overall efficiency of the practice.
Responsibilities
- Conduct preliminary eye exams, including measuring visual acuity and assessing ocular health.
- Assist with diagnostic testing such as tonometry, visual field testing, and fundus photography.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation using electronic health record systems like Epic.
- Educate patients on procedures and assist them in understanding their treatment options.
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all necessary equipment is sterile and functioning properly, adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Record vital signs and medical histories accurately.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists to provide excellent patient care in a timely manner.
- Support retail sales of eyewear and related products when necessary.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to ophthalmology is essential.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices is preferred.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Understanding of physiology as it relates to ocular health is beneficial.
- Previous experience in retail sales within a healthcare setting is an advantage.
- Proficiency in performing vital sign assessments and basic clinical procedures.
