Job Description
Job Title: Laboratory Assistant

Experience: Preferred experience in Phlebotomy in an acute care environment
License: Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPTI) license required
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required
Must-Have: Current Epic experience


Description:
This position involves collecting blood specimens for laboratory testing.
You will handle, process, and receive specimens for testing.
Assess specimens upon receipt according to established criteria to determine acceptability.
Take action according to protocol, including escalating to licensed personnel for direction.
Handle and process a variety of specimen types while maintaining their integrity.
Complete computerized tasks to ensure complete patient registration and test order entry.
Prepare and package specimens for transport to other laboratories.
Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies in the work area.
Document pre-analytic and post-analytic work and complete quality-related tasks.
Monitor the laboratory workflow, including pending and priority work.
Communicate released results and route them to the appropriate parties.
Store and retrieve specimens as needed.
Assist callers appropriately for incoming laboratory inquiries.
Clarify ambiguous or unclear test orders with customers.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations to ensure safety and privacy.
Commitment to the safety and wellbeing of associates and patients is essential.
All associates must receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment.
