Bilingual Front Office Medical Assistant
Location: Visalia, CA
Pay: $22.00/hour DOE
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 7:30/8:00 AM - 5:00 PM


Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Bilingual Front Office Medical Assistant to support a busy medical office in Visalia. This position will assist with front-office patient services while also handling prior authorizations, insurance verification, referrals, and related documentation.


The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of medical office experience , including direct experience with medical insurance authorizations and payer requirements. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple requests and deadlines in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Essential Job Functions

• Obtain and process prior authorizations, referrals, and related documentation for assigned services.
  
  
• Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage requirements with commercial and/or government payers.
  
  
• Submit authorization requests through payer portals, fax, email, or other approved methods.
  
  
• Track authorization status and follow up with payers to ensure timely approvals and address denials.
  
  
• Review authorization requests for completeness and accuracy and identify missing documentation.
  
  
• Utilize payer portals and/or authorization management systems.
  
  
• Welcome patients, visitors, physicians, and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
  
  
• Schedule and reschedule patient appointments as needed.
  
  
• Complete patient check-in and check-out.
  
  
• Update patient demographics and information within the EMR system.
  
  
• Answer phone calls and respond to voicemail messages and patient inquiries.
  
  
• Call or fax orders approved by physicians.
  
  
• Collect copays, deductibles, and outstanding patient balances.
  
  
• Maintain accurate documentation and provide excellent patient service.

Requirements

• 2+ years of medical office experience
  
  
• 2+ years of experience with medical insurance authorizations
  
  
• High School Diploma or equivalent
  
  
• Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program
  
  
• Bilingual in Spanish required
  
  
• Strong knowledge of prior authorization workflows, insurance verification, eligibility, benefits, and payer requirements
  
  
• Experience using payer portals and/or authorization management systems
  
  
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple requests in a fast-paced environment
  
  
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
  
  
• Ability to meet authorization timelines and productivity expectations
  
  
• Knowledge of Synapse preferred, but not required
