Storm Duty Requirements Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures. Position Overview Title: Data Architect, Data Modeling & Integration Design Focus Company: Tampa Electric Company Location: Midtown East Tower, Tampa, Florida Shift: 8 Hour × 5 Days Hiring Manager: Miral M Vora Recruiter: Mark E Koener Position Concept: The Data Architect will be responsible for the “back end” components of the organization’s Data Analytics environment from standards, architecture, and design perspectives. Overall responsibility for the implementation and support of the data movement and engineering processes required to populate the organization’s custom-built analytic data structures (e.g., staging areas, data warehouse, and data marts) as well as the design of these structures. Focus Areas Advanced Data Modeling and Database Design Cloud Data Platform Expertise Data Governance, Security, and Compliance ETL/ELT and Data Integration Design Data Virtualization and Data Mesh Design Build Data Architecture Primary Duties and Responsibilities Define and evolve the data architecture in alignment with enterprise standards to support diverse use cases such as reporting, OLAP, dashboards, data mining, and statistical analysis. Ensure the architecture meets operational requirements including scalability, security, reliability, and flexibility. Determine the appropriate deployment environment, whether cloud-based or on‑premises. (25%) Establish best practices for source data analysis, ETL design and documentation, data federation across platforms (e.g., AMI, Empower, custom analytics), business rule placement (with the Information Architect), ETL testing and release management (with the Change Coordinator), database-level security (with DBAs), and data masking, anonymization, and tokenization. (15%) Translate user requirements into data models and supporting applications by guiding data analysts in source analysis, advising ETL developers, and designing logical and physical analytic data structures. Deploy metadata tools to document data sources, analytic structures, semantic layers, and BI applications; implement security for data integration and cleansing tools; collaborate on support environments and release management best practices; oversee the operational environment; and work with DBAs and operations teams to monitor and optimise ETL and data structure performance. (15%) Accountable for the quality of data model and ETL application deliverables and responsible for establishing and managing QA functions including testing (unit, system, stress, etc.) and peer reviews. (15%) Provide technical oversight of the activities of ETL developers and data analysts and provide coaching and mentoring regarding technical skills and competencies. (15%) Serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) to provide consultation. (15%) Qualifications Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Information/Computer Science, Data/Information Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or related field. Preferred: At least one professional certification in a related discipline. Direct Experience Required: 7 years of direct work experience performing the duties and responsibilities of this position. Hands‑on experience with SAP BW4/HANA, HANA Enterprise, SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft PowerBI, etc. Preferred: Gas or electric utility experience; experience working in large public or private‑sector organizations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) Required: Deep knowledge of and experience with SAP and Microsoft Azure suites (ETL, service bus, data quality tools) and understanding of SAP HANA, SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft PowerBI, etc.; ability to provide thought leadership regarding their deployment. Deep knowledge of establishing ETL application design standards and implementing such applications. Preferred: Knowledge of electric grid solutions such as ADMS, EMS, AMI/MDM, Intergraph GIS. Knowledge of fundamentals of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (Machine Learning, etc.), Blockchain, etc. Ability to assess emerging business and regulatory changes and articulate how these can positively impact the company.
