SKILLS REQUIRED:

Primary (Must-Have):

• dSPACE Eco-system Expertise: Deep, hands-on command over dSPACE toolchains including ConfigDesk, AutomationDesk, and ControlDesk for simulator configurations.

• Embedded Controller Networks: Proficient understanding and troubleshooting of vehicle networking protocols, specifically CAN and LIN architectures.

• Automotive Diagnostics & Analysis: Advanced navigation of CAN-based communication tools and specialized environment networks like Vector CANalyzer or CANoe.

• Simulation Architecture & Modeling: Proven execution in defining simulator I/O boundaries, instrumentation requirements, and automated testing setups for distributed electronic features.

• Schematic Translation: Ability to break down component-level electrical schematics and functional software specifications into actionable signal requirements for virtual benches.

Secondary (Good to Have):

• Matlab/Simulink Modeling: Familiarity building, developing, and verifying plant and control models within Matlab/Simulink for high-fidelity HIL test environments.

• Powertrain Architecture Familiarity: Prior exposure commissioning features coupled with transmissions, internal combustion engines, or hybrid powertrain modules.

• Cross-functional Issue Resolution: Around 9+ years of progressive engineering experience acting as a bridge between suppliers, design release engineers (DRE), and software validation teams.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a highly capable Virtual HIL Commissioning Engineer to deliver stable, high-fidelity, and representative test environments for automated integration testing on-site in Auburn Hills, MI. This role is central to validating complex, distributed vehicle features on the bench long before production, directly supporting a successful vehicle launch ecosystem. The ideal engineer will draw upon comprehensive embedded network knowledge to construct simulators, model complex powertrain behaviors, and maintain critical test benches—slashing false-positive incident reports across the software release pipeline.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identify system-level boundaries and program detailed requirements for simulator I/O structures, instrumentation layers, and custom test automation frameworks.

• Model and simulate complex powertrain, engine, and transmission behaviors to support core subsystem integration and feature commissioning.

• Review component-level electrical diagrams and specifications to precisely map physical hardware loops into software-signaled virtual test steps.

• Validate, troubleshoot, and maintain physical HIL simulator benches, ensuring precise electrical execution across testing hardware blocks.

• Isolate, debug, and trace system-level vehicle network faults using Vector CANoe/CANalyzer to isolate real product bugs from testing system anomalies.

• Partner closely with core architecture teams, component release engineers, and global tier-1 suppliers to configure testing configurations under aggressive milestones.
