The Atlantic Group has partnered with a highly respected nonprofit organization with more than 200 years of service based in the Brooklyn, NY area. They have an immediate need for an Assistant Comptroller to join their team.

 

Summary: The Assistant Comptroller is responsible for managing financial processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing accurate financial reporting to support the organization's mission. This person will manage 2 AP professionals.

 

Schedule: Hybrid. In office Tuesday & Thursdays. (Must have more flexibility to come in the office when first starting.)

 

Key Responsibilities

-Financial Management: Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements risingsunopp.org+1.

-Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, monitoring expenditures against budgeted amounts, and providing variance analysis

-Grant Management: Manage financial reporting for grants and ensure compliance with funder requirements. Prepare and submit financial reports to grantors and stakeholders 

-Audit Preparation: Lead the annual audit process, including preparation of necessary documentation and coordination with external auditors 

-Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning. Provide insights on financial performance and recommend improvements

-Internal Controls: Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure the integrity of financial data

-Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure effective communication of financial information and support organizational goals

 

Requirements:

-Bachelor’s degree required

-Nonprofit accounting experience required

-Internal month-end close experience required

-Sage Intacct experience is a plus

-Managerial experience is a plus
