AMA Certified Medical Assistant

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region, providing compassionate and efficient patient care in a busy clinical setting. As a Medical Assistant, you will support licensed nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers by performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks.

General Summary

This role involves assisting with patient care duties such as taking vital signs, performing EKGs, verifying medications and allergies, and documenting patient information accurately and promptly. You will also facilitate communication between patients and providers, manage phone inquiries, and assist with medication renewals and authorizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure patient safety by following infection control protocols and notifying licensed nurses of any changes in patient condition.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and collect relevant medical histories and chief complaints.
• Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens as ordered.
• Schedule appointments, diagnostic procedures, and surgeries as directed by providers.
• Manage supply inventory and maintain cleanliness and organization of exam areas.
• Educate patients on electronic health record portals and assist with enrollment.
• Support orientation and training of new medical assistants.
• Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Education

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program is required, or equivalent experience. A high school diploma is also necessary.

Experience

At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role is preferred, especially in a clinical setting.

Certification and Licenses

Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credentials from an accredited organization such as the American Medical Technologist (AMT) are preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

This position requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, and various movements such as stooping and reaching. Exposure to infectious diseases and occasional challenging interactions may occur.
