About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Wound Care Profession: Nursing Specialty: Wound Care Duration: 14 weeks Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Two (2) years of Med/Surg experience; Wound and Colostomy experience License: Client RN License Certifications: - Current certification in one of the following: - Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) - Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) - Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) - Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) - Wound Care Certified Certification (WCC) Must-Have: - Associates Degree (ASN, ADN) from an accredited Nursing Program - Med/Surg Nursing - Wound Care - Colostomy Care - Patient Assessment - Care Planning Description: Conducts health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence-related care. Performs focused physical assessments and develops plans of care based on diagnoses and individual client needs. Recommends medications and treatments as appropriate. Develops, revises, and evaluates standards of care. Assists in the selection of supplies, technology, and equipment. Assesses and documents patient responses to wound care, ostomy, continence, and complex wound treatments. Evaluates the quality and delivery of care provided by clinical staff. Works collaboratively with the healthcare team and makes referrals to other disciplines as indicated. Teaches, counsels, and assists individuals and families in assuming responsibilities for prevention of complications. Develops, provides, and evaluates staff education programs, including new employee orientations and continuing education. Routinely conducts comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for developing pressure injuries and initiates preventative measures. Escalates and communicates challenges, including ethical issues and conflict resolution. Collaborates with nursing leadership to initiate and recommend best practices based on prudent assessment. Participates in quality improvement activities, including incidence and prevalence studies. Provides culturally competent patient, family, and staff education consistent with cultural, ethnic, and religious belief systems. Maintains the security and confidentiality of data and information. Achieves and maintains a level of professional competency by engaging in relevant activities. Identifies available community resources helpful to clients and assists in their utilization. Manages assets related to rented equipment, such as specialty beds and negative pressure devices.
