Job Summary The Aircraft Mechanic I services, repairs, and overhauls aircraft to ensure airworthiness. This role involves repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft structures and functional components such as wings, fuselage, surface controls, rigging, plumbing, and hydraulic units. Mechanics utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment while adhering to technical publications and maintenance standards. The position requires prioritizing workload to maintain schedules and compliance with site operations and management requirements. Key Responsibilities S ervice and repair aircraft to ensure compliance with airworthiness standards Repair and rebuild structures including wings, fuselage, and surface controls Utilize tools and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brakes, welding equipment, rivet guns, and drills Interpret technical publications, maintenance manuals, and service bulletins to determine repair feasibility and methods Inspect airframe components for fluid leaks, cracks, and other damage Troubleshoot and repair systems including structural and hydraulic components Perform miscellaneous duties to service aircraft systems as required Maintain certification as a CDI when required by site operations and management Prioritize workload to meet schedules and maintenance standards Required Qualifications Honorable discharge from military service Completion of appropriate Navy Skill Specialty Class “C” school for the applicable T/M series aircraft High school diploma or equivalent; specialized training courses desirable Minimum of 5 years USN/USMC/USCG O-Level CNAFINST 4790.2 aircraft maintenance support experience Minimum of 3 years T/M aircraft maintenance experience for the aircraft type hired to maintain Minimum of 2 years Organizational Maintenance experience within the last 7 years Experience as CDI, CDQAR, Engine Turn Qual, APU Turn Qualification Thorough knowledge of T/M aircraft troubleshooting, repair procedures, and mechanical component replacement Basic knowledge of electrical theory Proficiency with aircraft tools including test equipment, torque wrenches, micrometers, and IMRL equipment Working knowledge of technical publications, CNAFINST 4790.2, and NALCOMIS aircraft maintenance applications Valid driver’s license Preferred Qualifications A&P Certification (Airframe and Power Plant) – may exempt candidates from certain requi rements Certifications (if applicable) CDI certification (as required by site operations) A&P Certification – Preferred Education: High School Certification: A&P Certification
