Job Description Job Description Job Title: Machinist - Lathes Location: Aston, PA 19014 New Way® Air Bearings, Inc. is looking for an experienced and motivated lathe machinist that will support the graphite machining group in making graphite components as well as setting up machines and processes for other lathe operators. Responsibilities: * Support graphite lathe machining department. * Set up and run CNC and manual lathes in order to produce parts out of graphite and metal. * Set up lathes and establish processes for other operators. * Read technical drawings to understand part specifications. * Use computer software (CAM) to model cutting paths and program machines accordingly. * Troubleshoot and resolve problems with machines as they arise. * Perform basic machine maintenance. * Train new employees on how to properly operate CNC and manual lathes. * Performs job duties with limited supervision. Qualifications/Skills: * SolidWorks and CAM experience * Machine operation and set-up; 2 axis lathes * Ability to inspect own and others work. * Strong problem-solving skills (identify problems and respond correctly). * Ability to use correct tooling, fixturing and equipment to perform work tasks to engineering specifications. Working Conditions & Physical Factors: * Required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear continuously for 8-10 hours per day. * Overtime may be required when necessary. * Regularly lift up to 50 pounds. * The employee will be required to wear proper PPE (gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes) throughout the facility. * Exposed to moving mechanical parts, machining oils/coolants, graphite dust, and chemicals which are below OSHA's permissible levels of exposure. * Facility is temperature controlled and assembly locations are closely regulated. Preferred Experience/Education: * High School Diploma or GED required. * Formal training from technical or trade school is desired but not required. * Five or more years of CNC and Manual Lathe programing, set up, and operation experience. * Mill experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
