Quality Control Welding Inspector

We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Welding Inspector who combines hands-on welding expertise with a passion for quality, precision, and continuous improvement. In this highly visible role, you'll be the quality champion on the shop floor-ensuring that every welded and fabricated component leaving our facility reflects the craftsmanship, safety, and performance our customers expect.

What You'll Do

As our Quality Control Welding Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring welded and fabricated products consistently meet engineering requirements, quality standards, and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities

• Perform in-process and final inspections of welded and fabricated assemblies.
• Conduct detailed visual weld inspections, identifying defects including:
  • Porosity
  • Cracking
  • Undercut
  • Incomplete fusion
  • Distortion
  • Other weld discontinuities
• Interpret blueprints, weld symbols, engineering drawings, and fabrication specifications to verify compliance.
• Verify dimensional accuracy, fit-up requirements, tolerances, and overall workmanship.
• Complete and maintain accurate:
  • Weld maps
  • Inspection reports
  • Quality records
  • Traceability documentation
• Evaluate non-conforming welds and recommend appropriate repair methods.
• Partner with welders and fabrication teams to improve quality, consistency, and performance.
• Investigate quality concerns and support corrective and preventive actions.
• Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure quality documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
• Champion a culture of safety, accountability, craftsmanship, and excellence throughout the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a fabrication shop, welding facility, or heavy manufacturing environment.
• Quality assurance or quality control experience in a production setting.
• Experience identifying, troubleshooting, and eliminating recurring weld quality issues.
• Experience supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
• Knowledge of industry welding and inspection standards.
• Welding Inspector certifications or related quality certifications are a plus.

Work Environment

This position is based in a fast-paced fabrication and manufacturing facility where quality is the foundation of everything we build. You'll spend time on the production floor working directly with welders, fabricators, and production teams while utilizing blueprints, weld maps, measuring instruments, and inspection tools to verify products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
