Oregon Health & Science University | Oregon Health & Science University | Posted Mar 9 Apply Full-time Portland Negotiable Unknown Department Overview This position reports to the Chair, Department of Neurology and Head, Division of Multiple Sclerosis. OHSU MS Center, founded in 1984, has grown into a robust program with several clinics a week at OHSU and the VAPORHCS. Multiple fellowship‑trained neurologists and a multidisciplinary team provide ongoing care to over 1,500 people with MS and other CNS neuroimmunologic disorders and evaluate new patient referrals each year. We diagnose and manage patients from all over Oregon, Southern Washington and elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest. Our multidisciplinary team includes a pharmacist, nurse, medical assistant, social worker, physical, occupational and speech therapists, a neuro‑urologist, neuro‑psychologists, psychiatrists, neuro‑ophthalmologists, neuroradiologists and hematologist/oncologists. At both OHSU and the VAPORHCS we utilize 3T Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for accurate diagnosis and follow‑up. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is also available in our OHSU clinic. We have infusion centers available at both OHSU and the VAPORHCS. Along with disease‑modifying therapies and rehabilitation interventions, we emphasize wellness approaches to our patients, including low‑fat diet, exercise, stress reduction and judicious use of supplements. We are proud to be a National MS Society (NMSS) Center for Comprehensive MS Care (the only one in Oregon) and a member of the Consortium of MS Centers (CMSC). Function/Duties of Position The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the University’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The appointee shall have a demonstrated competence in patient care and teaching/mentorship. The most desired candidate will also have interest/experience in research/scholarship/discovery and/or administrative leadership. The candidate will teach trainees and support staff in their area of professional expertise through lectures and by modeling best practices, mentoring trainees, and guiding learning through delegated responsibilities. The candidate will provide an outstanding level of professional performance, compliant with all relevant regulations and guidelines, treating all patients, research subjects, trainees and co‑workers with dignity and respect. The candidate may maintain a program of scholarly research, develop and direct research activities to improve understanding and treatment of disease, and may engage in public service and departmental or hospital administration as approved by the Chair. Required Qualifications Doctorate in medicine & residency training in Neurology. Demonstrated competence in patient care & teaching. Current unlimited Oregon MD/DO (or equivalent) license prior to start. Registered with Federal Drug Administration and authorized to prescribe medications. Board certification or eligibility for board certification in Neurology is required. Ideal candidates will have interest and expertise in research/scholarship/discovery.
