Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Hermitage, Tennessee. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 10/19/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Summary: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse Location unspecified. This position involves providing specialized patient care within a PCU, supporting unit-specific protocols and ensuring quality patient outcomes during night shifts. The role requires critical thinking, advanced cardiac skills, and the ability to work cohesively with a healthcare team in a fast-paced environment. Job Details: Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week. Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications. Experience with EKG rhythm interpretation, cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips. Critical thinking skills, peripheral IV skills, and experience with bipaps, high flow oxygen, and various oxygen delivery systems are essential. Peritoneal dialysis experience and stroke/post-cardiac catheter care preferred. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with tube feedings, NG/Dobhoff tubes, wound vacs, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, and central line dressing changes. Additional Information: Candidates should be comfortable floating within PCU units or to med-surgical floors as needed. The unit practices self-scheduling, with a four-week schedule requiring work every other weekend. Focus on hourly rounding, communication, teamwork, and a family-like care culture.
