Care Partner - Trauma Orthopedics - Weekends

Job Summary Care Partners support registered nurses by providing skilled bedside patient care and performing clerical duties needed to run the nursing unit. Job Responsibilities Provide general patient care under the direction of the RN, including assisting with procedures, maintaining patient care equipment, and managing patient comfort. Perform clerical duties: order transcription, medical record maintenance, unit receptionist duties, unit chart organization, and documentation accuracy. Coordinate patient room preparation, admissions, and discharge processes. Support infection control and safety practices: hand hygiene, PPE use, disposal of hazardous waste, and compliance with BIP training. Assist with vital signs, point‑of‑care testing, medication administration record entry, and laboratory order processing. Support mobility and exercise, respiratory care, wound care, bowel and bladder care, oral hygiene, and specimen collection. Communicate patient status changes to nursing staff, report critical lab results, and assist with shift hand‑offs. Maintain clean, safe, and organized environment, including housekeeping coordination and equipment upkeep. Qualifications High school graduate or GED equivalent; at least 18 years old. Minimum experience: none. Completion of the hospital learning program with an 80% passing score. Required certifications: BLS HCP, annual safety and infection‑control training, and other hospital‑specific competencies. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a dynamic, patient‑centered environment. Working Conditions Regular shift hours; scheduled 24 hours per week. Typical exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and other clinical hazards. Physically demanding: prolonged standing, lifting up to 100+ pounds, frequent patient transfers.
