Wound Care Medical Director Position Summary \n

The Wound Care Medical Director provides clinical leadership and oversight for wound care services, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based patient care and regulatory compliance. This role combines direct patient care with programmatic leadership, quality improvement, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to optimize wound healing outcomes.

• Provide medical direction and clinical oversight for wound care services
\n
• Deliver direct patient care for acute and chronic wounds, including complex and non-healing wounds
\n
• Establish and oversee evidence-based wound care protocols and treatment pathways
\n
• Supervise and collaborate with wound care clinicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and ancillary services
\n
• Review clinical outcomes, documentation quality, and adherence to standards of care
\n
• Participate in quality improvement, performance measurement, and patient safety initiatives
\n
• Support compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and documentation requirements
\n
• Collaborate with hospital leadership, surgeons, podiatry, infectious disease, and primary care providers
\n
• Provide education and mentorship to wound care team members
\n
• Participate in program development, growth initiatives, and service line planning
\n
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation
\n

• Hospital-based wound care center, outpatient clinic, or integrated wound care program
\n
• May include inpatient consultative services
\n
• Schedule includes clinical and administrative responsibilities
\n

\n
• Adult patients with acute, chronic, and complex wounds
\n
• Conditions may include diabetic foot ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, pressure injuries, surgical wounds, and ischemic wounds
\n

\n
• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
\n
• Completion of an accredited residency program (e.g., Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Surgery, or related specialty)
\n
• Board certified or board eligible in primary specialty
\n
• Experience or training in wound care management required
\n
• Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the practicing state
\n
• DEA registration or eligibility
\n

• Expertise in advanced wound care and healing principles
\n
• Strong clinical leadership and program management skills
\n
• Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards related to wound care
\n
• Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration abilities
