Blended Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide high-level care for Med/Tele/PCU patients in an acute care setting

• Monitor, interpret, and respond to cardiac rhythms and telemetry changes

• Manage stepdown patients including cardiac, respiratory, and complex medical cases

• Administer and titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, and more

• Care for patients with conditions such as sepsis, pneumonia, COVID, cardiac procedures, and chronic illnesses

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

• Float between PCU, Med-Surg, and assist in ER holds as needed

• Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC EMR system

• Ensure patient safety, infection control, and compliance with protocols

Unit Highlights

• 32-bed Med/Tele/PCU unit

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4–5 (up to 5–6 on nights)

• PCU overflow ratio: 1:3

• Strong cardiac focus with telemetry monitoring

• RNs required to read and interpret their own strips

• Support staff available (PCT ratio approx. 1:10)

• RT equipment includes BiPAP, trachs, and high-flow systems

Requirements

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience

• MUST have PCU/Stepdown experience

• Strong telemetry and cardiac background required

• Ability to work nights, weekends, and float as needed

• First-time travelers accepted (with strong experience)

Education

• ADN or BSN required

Certifications & Licensure

• Active RN License (required at submission)

• BLS (AHA)

• ACLS (AHA)

Knowledge and Skills

• Advanced cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation

• Drip titration and critical thinking skills

• Ability to manage high-acuity stepdown patients

• Strong multitasking and adaptability

• Experience with EPIC preferred
