Senior Director, Clinical Operations - Portfolio & Resource Operations (Hybrid)

Senior Director, Portfolio & Resource Operations (PROS) – reports to the Head of Global Data Management and Standards (GDMS) Business Operations. The role is responsible for developing and maintaining the GDMS portfolio and resource management processes, aligning demand and capacity, financial forecasting, budgeting, and operational metrics. Responsibilities Strategic & Functional Leadership: Provide portfolio and resource operations leadership across GDMS. Lead definition of operational processes, governance frameworks, and forecasting methodologies. Monitor operations oversight to ensure quality and compliance. Represent GDMS at enterprise forums (Global Clinical Trial Operations, Global Clinical Development). Ensure strategic alignment with GCTO, GDO, and the research division’s PROS functions. Coordinate strategic productivity and operating model initiatives, track progress, and align with organizational priorities. Champion organizational change strategy; drive adoption of new operating models and digital capabilities. Operational Governance, Execution & Cross‑Functional Alignment: Oversee capacity modeling, forecasting, and risk management aligned with business, financial, and operational objectives. Coordinate GDMS budget forecasting with Finance and monitor expenses against targets. Drive outcomes related to GDMS objectives, KPIs, and KQIs with partners such as IT, Finance, and GCTO stakeholders. Define GDMS performance and quality indicators, facilitate operations reviews, and align metrics with GCTO control towers. Maintain compliance with change‑control procedures for core GDMS operational processes. People Management & Talent Development: Align team direction and priorities with organizational strategy. Support performance management activities, conduct check‑ins, and lead year‑end reviews. Coach for performance, facilitate career development, and create growth opportunities. Coordinate talent strategy and hiring for the functional area. Foster an inclusive high‑performance culture that attracts, develops, and retains talent. Manage operating budget and optimize spend. Qualifications, Skills & Experience Technical Skills: Enterprise‑level capacity modeling and operational forecasting using analytical tools. Cross‑functional planning in clinical operations with end‑to‑end data management understanding. Designing and leading governance forums that link data, organization, processes, and performance. Applying industry benchmarks and internal baselines to drive continuous improvement. Knowledge of clinical data management systems and performance measures. Operational metrics management and data quality controls. Strategy and consulting for operating model adoption and value realization frameworks. Understanding of ICH/GCP guidelines in clinical data management. Non‑technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strategic leadership across diverse global teams. Influence across seniority levels without direct authority. Disciplined data‑driven prioritization of critical business needs. Exceptional communication, storytelling, and influence skills. Integration of business, operational, and organizational factors into decisions. Resilience, adaptability, and performance under pressure. Change leadership and continuous improvement initiatives. Fluency in English with strong written and verbal communication. Enterprise Leadership Skills: Build strategic partnerships (GDMS, IT, Finance, GCTO) to resolve cross‑functional constraints. Influence senior stakeholders with data‑driven insights and trade‑off scenarios. Develop high‑performing portfolio & resource operations organization. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 13 years experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, clinical data management, clinical trial operations, operations, analytics, finance, or related field, plus 5 years of direct‑line people management experience; OR Master’s/Doctorate with at least 10 years experience and 5 years of direct‑line people management. Benefits Salary range: $173,200.00 – $272,600.00. Eligibility for annual bonus and long‑term incentive.
