In addition to managing our 7 bed ICU you will be leading our group of Float Pool RNs and Techs, and provide cross-coverage for the Inpatient units. We have a great team looking for a strong clinical leader to bring best clinical practice to the bedside. A background with strong clinical skills in ICU is preferred. The nurse manager provides 24-hour operational accountability for their unit(s). Collaborates with the Nursing Director with oversight for designated unit, to develop and oversee the implementation and evaluation of programs and processes to provide necessary patient care services using appropriate resources. Inherent in the role is active involvement and leadership in quality improvement activities to enhance patient care and improve service. Additionally, the Nurse Manager participates in the development of and implementation of care and performance standards to ensure that identified patient care needs and regulatory requirements are met and/or exceeded. Optimal patient care and cost effective management is maintained through utilization of data and information from quality assessment and standards monitoring. Supports and contributes to ongoing changes within the organization. Collaborates with other managers/directors to ensure that appropriate levels of support are provided as needed for necessary level of care.* Facilitates learning, growth and development by understanding others unique strengths, weaknesses and personal styles.* Develops staff to bring out the best in their practice and foster a connection with the unit and their peers.* Conducts annual performance evaluation for each employee; encourages professionalism and career advancement by engaging staff in developing their interests and by setting goals that benefit patient care and unit culture in collaboration with director.* Ensures documentation of annual competencies, licensure, certifications, and testing required, are maintained.* Creates and identifies self learning opportunities designed to further develop skills/ knowledge relevant to current position.**Fiscal*** Works with the Director to prepare the annual operating budget including salaries and wages, supplies and expenses, along with capital requests, within the timeframe allotted; ensures budget compliance and where applicable provides variance explanations.* Ensures that the optimal number of staff are available to safely and effectively care for patients, based on the standard for hours of care, taking into account patient acuity, level of staff skill and other relevant variables.* Ensures that relevant areas are achieving productivity standards.* Ensures that supplies are managed in a cost-effective manner.* Provides justification for capital budget items, including a ROI for each item requested in collaboration with the director.* Takes accountability for achieving volume and identifies strategies for continuous growth.**Quality and Safety*** Continuously monitor a variety of quality indicators, incident reports and patient satisfaction data.* Analyzes data, identify areas of concern and develop initiatives to address those concerns.* Engages in organizational initiatives and encourages staff to do the same.* Provides feedback to staff regarding initiatives and opportunities for improvement.* Ensures practice is consistent with hospital policies and standards and regulatory and accrediting agencies such as The Joint Commission.* Implements and evaluates the National Patient Safety Goals (updated annually).* Promotes continuous preparedness for regulatory review.* Maintains a clean and safe environment.* Ensures unit based infection control practices are maintained.* Participates in unit based environmental rounds**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:*** BSN in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred.* Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse Licensure required* Five years of related work experience in area of nursing specialty (med/surg, critical care, etc.) with strong clinical skills.* At least 1 year of supervisory/management experience required.* Recent direct clinical leadership preferred.* Advanced interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to deal with critical patient and personnel issues in a changing organizational climate.* Analytical ability to solve clinical issues and conduct, or participate in, quality improvement, research and utilization activities.* Demonstrated ability to manage unit in a fiscally responsible manner.* AHA BLS Certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire. (All direct clinical Managers)* AHA ACLS Certification required or obtained within 90 days of hire.(ICU, PACU, Float & ED)* ·AHA PALS Certification required or obtained within one year of hire (PACU, Float and ED)* Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include outlook, word, excel, Powerpoint or access.* Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification**Pay Range:**$144,996.80 USD - $205,000.00 USDThe pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time.
