Job Description

As a Materials Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing and optimizing thermoset and ceramic composite formulations specifically for MAD 3D printing applications. Your work will involve innovative materials such as epoxy, phenolic, carbon-filled, and aqueous ceramics. You will be responsible for designing and refining materials mixing protocols and equipment strategies to ensure batch consistency, processability, and printability. Additionally, you will lead the testing and characterization of material properties, including thermal stability, cure kinetics, mechanical performance, and ablation performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize thermoset and ceramic composite formulations for MAD 3D printing.
• Design and refine materials mixing protocols and equipment strategies.
• Ensure batch consistency, processability, and printability of materials.
• Lead testing and characterization of material properties such as thermal stability and cure kinetics.
• Evaluate mechanical performance and ablation properties of materials.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience with composite materials, especially thermosets or ceramics.
• Strong knowledge of formulation chemistry, particularly for filled resins and paste-like materials.
• Hands-on experience with materials mixing, degassing, and rheological control.
• Familiarity with techniques such as DSC, TGA, DMA, tensile testing, and microscopy.

• Experience in the aerospace industry.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Broomfield, CO.

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
