Speech and Language Pathologist
The Speech and Language Pathologist provides evaluation, assessment, consultation and/or direct instruction to students with disabilities in the IMESD service area. The SLP will also collaborative with other educators and specialists to provide best practices for students.
Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Individual will hold a valid driver's license and have reliable, insured transportation. If selected for the position, individual will complete a pre-employment background check.
Education/Certification/Experience
- Completion of the American Speech and Hearing Association's (ASHA) certificate of clinical competence (CCC) OR
- License as a Speech-Language Pathologist from the Oregon Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology

Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Plans, organizes and conducts appropriate conferences with district staff, agencies, IMESD Special Programs staff and parents to carry out program objectives
- Participates as a member of IFSP and IEP teams
- Prepares and utilizes materials and equipment to effectively meet individual student learning needs
- Provides information and recommendations to classroom teachers and para-professionals to maximize inclusion of students with severe disabilities to effectively meet individual student learning needs
- Develops appropriate goals and objectives for each student
- Design materials to supplement curriculum
- Coordinates with audiologists for audiological support
- Identifies community resources to help meet student and family needs
- Develop and maintain caseload schedule in assigned districts
- Maintain individual student records to meet program, IMESD, state and federal requirements
- Completes contact logs for each student on a monthly basis
- Completes all federal and state mandated forms for each student
- Uses appropriate strategies to facilitate student learning
- Provides therapy to students in both one to one and small group settings
- Participates collaboratively on a team to develop an integrate IFSP/IEP
- Provides consultation to district staff, community agencies, families, and community partners
- Implements assistive technology as appropriate
- Use appropriate testing materials to evaluate students' hearing loss levels and goal progress
- Assists with the administration of appropriate assessments to evaluate the child or student behavior and educational progress
- As a member of the IFSP/IEP teams, assimilates a variety of assessment data to provide a complete picture of student eligibility and programming needs
- Conducts evaluations to determine educational impact for hearing impairment eligibility
- Effectively communicates assessment data and recommendations in a variety of ways, including report writing
- Communicates clearly and effectively in a variety of situations, including difficult ones, with agency staff, district staff, service providers and the public
- Communicates regularly with parents, classroom teachers, principals and case managers regarding students' needs and goal progress

- Fulfill duties for Mandatory Reporting of suspected child abuse or neglect
- This position may involve travel throughout the IMESD service area, which requires employee to hold a valid driver's license, have reliable transportation and insurance.

Working Conditions
- This position involves working at IMESD campuses and/or school districts within the IMESD service area.
- This position is a full time, 190 day, ten month position. The typical workweek is M-F, 8 hours a day. There will be occasional prolonged and/or irregular hours.
- Employee could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials or illnesses during the course of duties.
- Employee may be exposed to inappropriate student behavior such as hitting, kicking, biting, yelling, cussing and verbal threats.
- Any changes in contract days will be stipulated in each individual contract. Salary and benefits are established through a negotiated agreement between the IMESD Employee Group and the IMESD Board of Directors.
- Employee schedule and assignment to be established by Director and/or Assistant Superintendent.
