Location: Asheville, NC Facility: Mission Hospital – Main Campus Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN ☀️ Shift: Days | 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM Contract: 13 Weeks (Start: September 7, 2026) Requirements: ✅ Minimum 2 years of recent Med Surg, Telemetry, and PCU/Step-Down experience ✅ Active RN License ✅ BLS, ACLS & NIHSS required ✅ Experience with Cerner preferred ✅ Charge Nurse experience or leadership potential is a plus Unit Highlights: 40-bed Clinical Decision/Direct Admit Unit Nurse-to-patient ratios: PCU: 1:5 Med Surg: 1:6 EMR: Cerner Baxter IV pumps 1–2 CNAs per shift with goal of a free Charge Nurse Every other weekend No call required Floating within skill set as needed Patient Population: Direct admissions from the Emergency Department Wide variety of medical, telemetry, and progressive care diagnoses Focus on rapid admission, medication reconciliation, and initiation of acute care Fast-paced, high-turnover environment requiring strong clinical judgment and teamwork Why Nurses Love This Unit: ⭐ Many travel nurses extend their contracts ⭐ Strong teamwork and supportive leadership ⭐ Opportunities to assist with: Centralized Telemetry Monitoring (CMU) ED Transport Nurse role for higher-acuity patients ⭐ Great environment for experienced PCU and Step-Down nurses Dress Code: Navy Blue and/or White scrubs No T-shirts Navy or White jacket/sweater if needed Interested?
