Front of House Support

The Front of House (FOH) Support Team Member is a versatile, guest-focused position responsible for creating an exceptional dining experience from arrival to departure. This role supports all guest-facing operations by welcoming guests, managing orders, delivering food, assisting with table maintenance, coordinating with the kitchen, and ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient restaurant environment. FOH Support Team Members are cross-trained to assist as Hosts, Counter Servers, Food Runners, and Expediters as business demands require. Success in this role requires strong communication, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Guest Service & Hospitality Welcome every guest with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. Create a positive first and last impression for all guests. Answer questions regarding menu items, ingredients, allergens, and dietary accommodations. Provide recommendations and upsell beverages, sides, desserts, and retail items when appropriate. Assist guests with concerns and elevate issues to management when necessary. Maintain a positive, calm, and professional demeanor during high-volume periods. Host & Guest Flow Management Manage reservations, waitlists, and seating arrangements efficiently. Accurately communicate wait times and seating updates to guests. Coordinate seating to balance service sections and maximize table utilization. Communicate guest preferences, celebrations, allergies, accessibility needs, and special requests to service staff. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, lobby, and entrance areas. Order Taking & Counter Service Accurately enter guest orders into the POS system. Verify modifications, allergens, and special requests. Process cash, credit card, gift card, and digital payment transactions accurately. Manage online orders, third-party delivery orders, and guest pickups. Assemble, package, verify, and distribute to-go orders according to company standards. Monitor pickup areas and coordinate order handoffs efficiently. Food Running & Guest Support Deliver food promptly, accurately, and professionally. Verify proper presentation, temperature, and order accuracy before delivery. Use seat numbers and table position standards when delivering food. Provide brief menu descriptions when presenting dishes. Assist servers by refilling beverages, delivering additional items, clearing plates, and responding to guest needs. Communicate guest requests and concerns to service team members promptly. Serve as a communication link between the kitchen and front-of-house teams. Organize and prioritize tickets to maintain efficient service flow. Verify order accuracy, plating standards, portion sizes, and presentation before food leaves the kitchen. Communicate order modifications, allergies, shortages, menu changes, and delays. Monitor ticket times and assist with pacing during busy periods. Ensure all components of an order are present before food is delivered. Dining Room, Cleanliness & Organization Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout guest-facing areas. Clear, clean, and reset tables quickly and thoroughly. Restock silverware, napkins, condiments, beverage stations, cups, lids, and service supplies. Keep counter areas, expo stations, pickup shelves, and dining rooms clean and organized. Complete opening, running, and closing side work assignments. Participate in deep cleaning projects and facility organization efforts as assigned. Food Safety & Compliance Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures. Maintain proper handwashing, glove use, and cross-contamination prevention practices. Follow allergen awareness and communication procedures. Ensure food is delivered safely and at proper temperatures. Adhere to company policies, health department regulations, and airport/TSA requirements. Teamwork & Communication Communicate effectively with guests, managers, kitchen staff, and fellow team members. Foster a positive and professional work environment. Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in multiple FOH positions as needed. Complete additional duties assigned by management to support restaurant operations. Qualifications Experience & Skills Previous hospitality, restaurant, customer service, host, food runner, cashier, or counter service experience preferred but not required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills . Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable using POS systems, reservation platforms, handheld devices, and online ordering systems. Basic cash handling and math skills. Professional Qualities Friendly, guest-focused, and service-oriented. Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented . Positive attitude with strong problem-solving skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, and transport items up to 40 pounds. Ability to work safely in busy dining room and kitchen environments. Availability & Certifications Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak travel periods. Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain). Must successfully pass all required TSA security background checks.
