Staff Engineer, Identity & Access Management (IAM)

Recursion seeks a Staff Engineer for Identity & Access Management to establish and execute a comprehensive IAM strategy across products, platforms, and infrastructure. The role involves architecting zero-trust security solutions, implementing identity governance, and advising cross-functional teams on security integration while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Assess current IAM state and develop comprehensive IAM strategy across products, platforms, and infrastructure
- Design and implement cloud-based identity governance, access management, and directory solutions with zero-trust principles
- Establish role-based and attribute-based access control workflows for identity lifecycle management
- Define and monitor KPIs, KCIs, and KRIs to measure IAM control effectiveness and drive improvements
- Partner with IT, security, and engineering teams to ensure IAM integration into broader security architecture and regulatory compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
- Minimum 7 years of Identity & Access Management and information security experience
- Proven track record leading large-scale IAM projects from strategy through execution in cloud and hybrid environments
- Expert proficiency in enterprise identity solutions like Okta, AWS IAM, Azure AD, or equivalent platforms
- Advanced expertise in OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, and adaptive authentication protocols
- Expert experience with privileged access management solutions such as CyberArk or Delinea
- Strong programming skills in Java, C++, Python, or similar languages relevant to IAM
