Position Summary

We are seeking a Certified Echocardiography Technician / Medical Assistant to support cardiovascular diagnostic services within a cardiology clinic setting. This dual-role position involves performing diagnostic cardiac ultrasound procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring cardiovascular conditions while also supporting clinical operations as a Medical Assistant when echocardiography services are not being performed. The role requires strong technical imaging skills, patient care expertise, and the ability to maintain efficient clinical workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Perform transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) according to established protocols
Obtain high-quality cardiac ultrasound images for physician interpretation
Perform 2D, M-mode, Doppler, and Color Flow Doppler imaging
Accurately measure and document cardiac structures and functional findings
Prepare and position patients for echocardiography procedures while ensuring comfort and safety
Assist physicians during stress echocardiography procedures when required
Maintain ultrasound equipment and ensure proper calibration and quality control
Document diagnostic studies within the electronic medical record (EMR) system
Follow American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) imaging standards and regulatory requirements
Support patient preparation and clinical operations when imaging procedures are not being performed
Record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, weight, and oxygen saturation
Perform EKGs and assist physicians during examinations and minor procedures
Maintain exam room readiness and clinical supply inventory
Assist with patient intake, documentation, and medication reconciliation
Support patient education and clinic workflow efficiency while maintaining infection control protocols

Required Qualifications

Certification in Echocardiography such as RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer), RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer), or CCI Certification
Completion of an accredited Echocardiography program
Current BLS certification
Active Radiologic Technologist license in the state of Maryland
Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, pathology, and echocardiography imaging techniques
Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Strong interpersonal, patient communication, and documentation skills
