About The Role
Austin Capital Bank is seeking a hands-on Branch Operations Manager to take full ownership of our single branch location and its supporting deposit operations. Our branch is intentionally small—two CSRs, a modest deposit portfolio, and limited in-person account opening or loan activity—but it sits at the center of operational functions that are critical to the bank: servicing our deposit customers and executing timely, accurate wire and ACH processing for our Fintech and BIN/BaaS sponsorship group.
Reporting to the COO, you will run the branch end to end: supervising and developing the CSR team, managing daily branch activities and controls, owning deposit operations workflows, and continuously improving processes through automation and workflow optimization. This is an on-site role, five days per week, at our Austin, TX location.
This is not a sales or business-development role. We are looking for an operator—someone who takes control, builds structure and accountability, executes with precision every day, and leaves every process better documented and more efficient than they found it. Deep working knowledge of Jack Henry SilverLake is required.

What You’ll Do
Branch Leadership & Daily Operations

• Take full ownership of daily branch operations, ensuring all activities are completed accurately, timely, and in accordance with established procedures and controls.
• Directly supervise, schedule, train, coach, and develop the branch CSR team (2 CSRs), fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Manage branch opening/closing procedures, cash operations, vault and dual-control requirements, teller balancing, and cash limits.
• Serve as the escalation point for customer service issues, complex transactions, and operational exceptions at the branch.
• Ensure branch physical security, business continuity readiness, and adherence to all applicable policies, procedures, and banking regulations (BSA/AML, CIP, Reg CC, Reg E, and related requirements).
• Manage branch staffing coverage, supplies, and day-to-day facilities and vendor coordination for the branch location.
• Ensure operational procedures are documented, current, and consistently followed; close gaps where documentation does not exist.
• Coordinate with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Officer to monitor for suspicious activity.

Deposit Operations & Portfolio Servicing

• Service the bank’s deposit portfolio: account maintenance, holds, Reg E disputes, stop payments, dormant accounts, and reconciliations.
• Monitor and Process exception items, including overdrafts, non-sufficient funds (NSF), returned items, and stop payments.
• Monitor daily operational reports and controls in Jack Henry SilverLake to identify issues, reduce errors, and resolve out-of-balance conditions promptly.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for Jack Henry SilverLake (including Xperience), supporting troubleshooting, workflow configuration, system maintenance, and upgrades.
• Support internal audits, external audits, and regulatory examinations, including preparation of documentation and remediation of findings.

Wire & ACH Processing

• Own timely and accurate daily wire transfer processing (origination, verification, callbacks, OFAC screening, and cutoff management).
• Own daily ACH operations: file processing, origination and receipt, returns, NOCs, exception handling, and adherence to NACHA rules and processing windows.
• Prioritize and execute wire and ACH processing supporting the bank’s Fintech partnership and BIN sponsorship/BaaS programs, meeting partner SLAs and settlement deadlines.
• Coordinate with the Fintech/BaaS team on funds flow, settlement, reconciliation breaks, and partner operational inquiries.

Process Automation & Operational Efficiency

• Identify manual, repetitive, or error-prone workflows and drive automation and process-improvement initiatives from idea through implementation.
• Build and maintain operational reporting, dashboards, and performance metrics to create visibility into volumes, errors, SLAs, and processing timeliness.
• Assist with system upgrades, new product launches, and operational changes, ensuring branch and deposit operations readiness.
• Strengthen operational controls while eliminating inefficiencies—speed and accuracy are both the goal.

 

What You Bring

• 5+ years of progressive bank operations, deposit operations, or branch operations experience within a community bank or similar financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of core banking software, general ledger reconciliation, and regulatory guidelines.
• Strong working knowledge of Jack Henry SilverLake, including Xperience (required).
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with wire transfer processing, ACH operations (including NACHA rules, returns, and exception handling), account maintenance, and reconciliations.
• Experience supervising, coaching, and developing branch or operations staff.
• Experience working with auditors, regulators, and compliance requirements within a banking environment.
• Ability to identify operational challenges, determine root causes, and implement practical, durable solutions.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and hard daily deadlines (wire cutoffs, ACH windows).
• High attention to detail and commitment to operational accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills and sound judgment handling confidential information.
• A proactive, ownership-driven approach—willing to step in, roll up your sleeves, and solve problems personally when needed.
• Ability to work on-site in Austin, TX five days per week.

 

Bonus Points For

• Experience supporting Fintech partnerships, BIN sponsorship, or Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) operations.
• Experience with process automation, workflow optimization, or operational transformation efforts.
• Experience creating operational reporting, dashboards, or performance metrics.
• Experience supporting core conversions or system implementations.
• AAP/APRP accreditation or wire transfer certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

 

Working Conditions
This position operates in a professional bank branch and office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment. Regular and reliable on-site attendance at our Austin, TX location, five days per week during standard banking hours, is an essential function of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and view computer screens for extended periods; may stand for periods of time when supporting the teller line; and may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds (coin, supplies, files).
