Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill, are performed in accordance with practice policy, procedure and philosophy. Responsibilities Demonstrate the ability to provide the following patient care services: a. Perform triage services for patients b. Prepare injections as required and according to treatment plans designed by the physician c. Review medication refills with patient via telephone. Ensure that the patient is periodically assessed in the office by the physician to determine therapeutic effect and patient compliance. Adjust patient medications as needed d. Assist with minor medical/surgical procedures in the practice setting e. Recognize abnormal lab results and review lab reports with patients when the provider is absent f. Coordinate further testing and evaluation with the physician g. Identify the need for patient education and advise on treatment plan, including chronic diseases such as Diabetes h. Maintain treatment records/files for each patient, complete patient encounter form at the conclusion of each service performed i. Escort patient to the check‑out station at the conclusion of each service j. Return patient phone calls regarding testing and/or treatment plan k. Maintain patient confidentiality; comply with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established for the practice Demonstrate ability to manage the patient treatment area: a. Ensure compliance with Joint Commission regulations and other safety requirements; this includes disposal of used sharps and contaminated materials, and safe storage of medications b. Re‑order supplies as required and within budgetary limitations c. Submit requests for capital equipment during the annual budget development process d. Maintain work station cleanliness e. Maintain instruments and equipment; ensure all are sterilized, arranged, and ready for use Demonstrate knowledge of current professional practice standards, laws and regulations: a. Evaluate own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and relevant statutes and regulations b. Engage in an annual self‑assessment, identifying areas of strength and areas requiring professional development c. Seek and reflect on constructive feedback from other members of the healthcare team d. Take action to achieve performance goals Demonstrate the ability to acquire and maintain current knowledge and competency in nursing care: a. Participate in ongoing educational activities to acquire and validate knowledge (CPR, CLIA training programs) b. Seek experiences that reflect current clinical competencies and new clinical information c. Maintain professional affiliations d. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings as required by the practice e. Perform all other tasks and projects assigned by the Practice Manager or Physician f. May be required to act as back‑up for other members of the practice staff Demonstrate the ability to interact with and contribute to the professional development of peers and other healthcare providers: a. Share knowledge, skills, and experience with colleagues and others b. Provide colleagues and peers with constructive feedback regarding their practice c. Contribute to a learning environment that is conducive to healthcare education d. Contribute to a team environment by working with others in a way that promotes and encourages each person's contribution Becomes proficient and cross‑trained in the front desk area to maintain the front desk as needed, including answering phones, filing, and other duties to keep the flow of the office moving All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience Education: High School Diploma or GED Certificate Program; Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or equivalent credit hours in an RN program. Credential(s): Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN); Basic Life Support (BLS). Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience Education: None Credential(s): Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification related to the position, if applicable.
