Job Description
The Test Technician conducts a wide range of electronic and electro-mechanical tests in a manufacturing or laboratory environment, ensuring all activities follow established procedures, safety standards, and test specifications. This role sets up and operates test equipment, accurately records test data, supports troubleshooting and product modifications, and maintains a high level of quality and organization while working with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
Set up and perform a variety of electronic and electro-mechanical tests as directed by written procedures and verbal instructions.
Follow laboratory technical procedures and test specifications precisely, ensuring tests are performed exactly according to published standards unless directed otherwise by an engineer or leader.
Assemble the appropriate tools, fixtures, and test equipment needed for each test and verify they are suitable for the required procedures.
Maintain an in-depth working knowledge of test standards, product test procedures, and instrumentation used in the lab or production environment.
Accurately observe, monitor, and record test progression, measurements, and final results in a clear and organized manner.
Organize, document, and archive test data and records for each assigned project to ensure traceability and compliance.
Assist periodically with troubleshooting activities, including diagnosing test failures, identifying root causes, and supporting product repair or development modifications.
Identify instrumentation that requires calibration and ensure it is not used until properly calibrated and documented.
Apply the principles of 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work area.
Comply with and promote all safety, health, and quality practices, policies, and procedures during all testing activities.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality, to resolve issues and improve test processes.
Interpret and work from mechanical drawings, wire schematics, test specifications, and written procedures to perform test setups and evaluations.
Set up and wire test equipment and test units, including wiring harnesses and related electrical connections.
Use a variety of mechanical and electrical measuring equipment to verify test setups and results.
Perform inspection of test setups and units, ensuring proper assembly, wiring, and configuration prior to testing.
Utilize multimeters and other test instruments to perform electrical measurements and verify electrical safety.
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in test units and equipment, using strong problem-solving skills to resolve failures.
Communicate test status, issues, and results clearly through written documentation and verbal updates.
Work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance, taking initiative to move tasks forward.
Adhere to high quality standards in all aspects of testing, documentation, and equipment handling.
Essential Skills
At least 5 years of related electronics production test experience in a manufacturing or test laboratory environment.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of basic principles of electrical and electronic theory, including power electronics.
Working knowledge of RF test equipment and familiarity with a wide variety of electronic test instruments.
Ability to interpret and follow mechanical drawings, wire schematics, test specifications, and written procedures.
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose test failures, identify root causes, and support product repair and modification.
Familiarity with mechanical and electrical measuring equipment, including multimeters and related tools.
Understanding of calibration requirements and the ability to recognize when instruments need calibration.
Excellent manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination for handling small components, wiring, and assemblies.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to set up test units and perform basic assembly tasks.
Wiring experience, including the ability to set up and wire test equipment and test units.
Proficiency in both standard and metric measurement systems.
Strong computer literacy, including knowledge of MS Office tools for data entry, reporting, and documentation.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to create, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to understand and follow all safety requirements, including electrical safety practices.
Demonstrated commitment to high quality standards and attention to detail.
Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
Capability to work flexible hours, including some weekends, to accommodate testing requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with electronic and electrical testing in a production or laboratory setting.
Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and problem solving in electrical and mechanical systems.
Experience diagnosing test failures and supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Experience with test equipment setup and instrumentation, including multimeters and other measurement tools.
Understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment operation and safety.
Experience working with wiring harnesses, aircraft wiring, or similar complex wiring systems.
Experience in facilities maintenance or similar roles involving electrical systems is beneficial.
Experience with electrical safety practices and procedures.
Experience with soldering, assembly, repair, and inspection of electronic or electro-mechanical components.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and design documentation.
Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems and test processes.
Experience using hand tools and inspection equipment in a test or production environment.

Work Environment
This role operates in a manufacturing or test laboratory environment with defined shifts: a first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and a second shift from 2:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. The work involves frequent activity in controlled areas, handling electronic and electro-mechanical equipment, and using a variety of test instruments such as multimeters, RF test equipment, and mechanical and electrical measuring devices. You will regularly work at test benches and stations, using hand tools, wiring harnesses, and inspection equipment while following established safety and quality procedures. The environment emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and adherence to 5S principles, with a focus on safe operation of electrical and mechanical systems and consistent compliance with safety, health, and quality standards.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $34.00/hr.
