Truck Field Service Technician 3 - HOLT Truck Centers Job Category: Technical Requisition Number: TRUCK012628 Posted : February 18, 2026 Full-Time On-site Locations Showing 1 location Job Summary: Provides exceptional customer service while inspecting, repairing, and providing maintenance to trucks, trailers, and attachments for On-Highway vehicles. Essential Functions: Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission Troubleshoots and repairs On-Highway trucks both Cat and OEM Travels to and from the job site and travels to retrieve parts Listens and understands customer complaints, quotes and explains repair costs, and schedules appointments with customers while providing clear communications Orders parts needed to complete repairs Completes and files documentation necessary to justify billing Responds to customer needs after hours when needed Maintains a P Factor of 110% or greater Maintains less than .5% rework for years total sales Troubleshoots and diagnoses engine malfunctions and failures Performs engine and related equipment repairs on trucks and trailers Disassembles, inspects, determines parts required, and reassembles to factory specifications within TRGs Provides quality control/assurance inspections of completed tasks to include road testing Uses computers and related software to assist in diagnosing and reprograming engines Completes documentation for service reports, timecards, parts requisition and returns Interprets and utilizes information from operating, maintenance, online resources, and service manuals/bulletins Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance Acts as a mentor and coach to lower level Technicians Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training Requires regular and punctual employee attendance Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge and ability to explain how various systems function on trucks and trailers Knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance Knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and On-Highway Truck electronic systems diagnostic tooling Operation and control skills of On-Highway Trucks & Trailers Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Exceptional skills in customer service Excellent time management and organizational skills Ability to learn and navigate various software for both CAT and OEM Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair & overhead crane Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures Ability to operate a conventional forklift Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to be self-starting and motivated Ability to operate an On-Highway Truck on public roads Ability to read, write, and understand information Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program required Five or more years experience required CDL – Class A or B required or must be able to obtain Experience leading/mentoring preferred Has met HDSI requirements for preceding Technician levels; Ability to model and teach Holt’s VBL Culture On-going Safety Training required Supervisory Responsibilities: None Travel: Travel up to 40% and overnight travel may be required Additional Requirements: Must own and maintain the necessary tools to efficiently perform the job Must have a clean driving record Physical Requirements: Significant amount of time sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, climbing, and reaching Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity Communicates with customers, service managers, and co-workers Constantly reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals while performing the job Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue Frequently lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 70 lbs.
